1) Overview of Emirates
Background of Emirates Airlines
Established
in 1985, Emirates Airlines is a subsidiary of the Emirates group, solely owned
by the government of Dubai. Averaging a strong grow of 30% in the first decade
of operations, Emirates Airlines has grown to one of the most decorated
airlines in the world. Garnering over 500 international awards, one of the most
noteworthy would be Skytrax World Airlines Awards, which ranked Emirates
Airlines as rank number 1 in the list of top 100 airlines in the world in 2016.
The Industry
Emirates
Airlines fall into airline industry. The global airline industry is a
multibillion dollar industry that is growing rapidly today. Doubling in revenue
numbers in just a mere decade, from US$369 billion in 2004 to $746 billion in
2014, the industry does see major profitability. The main driver for this
growth comes from low-cost carriers (LCCs), which now dominate up to 25 percent
of the global market. On the other hand, carriers in developed markets only experienced
little growth in profits, totalling less than 3 percent.
Besides
growth in numbers, other trends that have emerged include increase in consumer
expectations. This is only fair due to how much the standard of living has
improved over the years. Also, airlines are expected to take a step forward in
improving operational efficiency such as fuel efficiency to reduce costs.
Products and Services
Luxury Airline
Describing itself as “A world force in travel and tourism”, Emirates provides a extensive range of products and services for the industry and its customers. Being an airline, the baseline and focus of Emirates is to provide world class luxury air travel. Flying Emirates would guarantee the best in-flight experience for any passenger due to its wide selection of amenities provided, and first class service from the trained cabin crew. Besides dining and in-fight entertainment such as movies for viewing, Emirates provides something extra that its competitors do not. That is in-flight spa showers. Despite it being only exclusive for first-class passengers, that puts Emirates as one of the best, if not the best in the industry.![]() |
